Yeah Yeah Yeahs - #9 Last Fm's 'Best of 2009'

"Now one of the defining bands of the decade, many assumed that Brooklyn's Yeah Yeah Yeahs would melt away after their 2003 debut Fever To Tell , like so many young art-rock sensations had done before them. It took three years of writing, recording and touring but follow up Show Your Bones proved that wrong; band members Nick Zinner, Brian Chase and Karen O stepped up, cementing their position as an all-powerful touring band with the release of Tell Me What Rockers To Swallow and teasing fans with new work on Isls EP.

They returned in 2009 with It's Blitz! , an album that surprised fans and listeners with its surprisingly upbeat tone, light melodies and a slew of indie-club floor-fillers. 'Heads will Roll' and 'Zero' shot up the band's chart, while 'Skeletons' and 'Little Shadow' provided the emotional tug at the heart the band perfected with 'Maps'. As the band played the summer festivals their plays reached a new peak, while Karen O's soundtrack for Where the Wild Things Are began to start generation attention as well as your scrobbles.

The band will be touring Japan and Mexico in the new year, and will be announcing plays for 2010 soon."
